The 1860 Census shows Daniel KORNEGAY as a farmer owning real estate valued at $700 and a personal estate of $260. Daniel received 232 acres of land from his father Harget KORNEGAY in 1869. The 1870 Census again shows Daniel KORNEGAY as a farmer, but he had five marriageable daughters still at home right after the Civil War. Daniel and his wife Martha deeded land to their son Nicodemus in 1881, the deed to which is recorded on page 585 of Book 35 in the Office of the Registrar of Deeds, Duplin County Courthouse, Kenansville, NC. Daniel and his wife Martha Dail KORNEGAY are buried in the Kornegay Family cemetary near Kornegay Town in Duplin County, NC.
