William Kornegay - Born 1736, Died June 22, 1812 William KORNEGAY was given lands by his father's will in the northeast part of Duplin County where he lived "in the fork of North East Cape Fear River and Goshen". The 1790 Census shows only seven children born to this family, but some private records show the names of Joseph, Abram, and Daniel. An old record in the Duplin County Courthouse shows that William KORNEGAY built the crossing over the North East River which has been known since as Kornegay's Bridge where he died June 22, 1812. |
