CRAVEN CO., DEED BOOK 21, PG 133, 7 APR 1774:
"Jacob Kornegay of Duplin Co sold to Wm Good of Craven, a lot in New Bern, conveyed
to Jacob by Francis Fontaine, dec'd in 1753... in the right of Elizabeth Fontaine, now
wife of Jacob Kornegay." (Francis was the brother of Elizabeth's former husband, John
Fontaine). She was a French Huguenot.
John Fontaine, born 1726 in VA; died August 1759 in VA. He married Elizabeth 1753 in
VA. John was bound to a carpenter as an apprentice in 1746. In November 1750, he went to
New Bern, North Carolina, with his brother, Francis, where they both were house joiners.

Heirs: Widow and twelve children. Jacob married second, Mary Ward.
Duplin Co Marriage Bond 7-19-1777, Bondsman Luke Ward.
Children of both marriages: John Kornegay (B 1760) oldest, already received 300 acres by
Deed 1785. no more, Jacob Kornegay, George Kornegay, Rebeccah Kornegay, Luke Kornegay,
Bryan Kornegay, Abraham Kornegay, Henry Kornegay, Penny Kornegay, Mary Kornegay (younger
1/3 of 290 A) Martin Kornegay, William Duncan, son in law, wife not named, John Ward, son
in law, wife not named."
